Does the consultation cost money?
No. Presidio wealth managers will review your financial situation and provide you with a free assessment on whether our Magellan process can get you to your financial goals.
How long Is the consultation?
While each individual or family situation is different, we typically can do a baseline assessment in 60- 90 minutes. At the end of that time, we will either schedule a follow up or provide you with resources if our team can't add value.
What topics are covered?
We will cover a wide arrary of topics based on your personal situation. Our M.A.P. meeting agenda generally covers:
1. Life GoalsA
2. LIE (Assets, Liabilities, Income, and Expenses).
3. Taxes and Tax Baseline
4. Estate Baseline
5. Risks Baseline
As well as any specific topics that might be of concern or areas to address not covered in the above scope.
How are consultations delivered?
We offer both in-person and Zoom M.A.P. consultations. Zoom is the most convenient and flexible option, but you’re also welcome to meet with us at our offices in San Diego or Orange County upon request.
What makes us different from other financial advisors?
We go beyond basic investment management. Our Magellan Method is built on in-depth, comprehensive financial and tax planning and looks across investments, taxes, estate planning, insurance, retirement income, and more to create a coordinated strategy designed to maximize wealth over time.
How long is the planning process?
It depends on your situation. Our process usually covers the major planning areas in 4 to 5 meetings of about 1.5 hours each, which can be scheduled as often as once a week. Depending on your schedule, the full planning process can take up to 3 months to complete the gap analysis, recommendations, and action plans.
How are my advisors determined/assigned?
All of our advisors are highly credentialed and hold CFP, CFA, or both designations. Your advisor is matched based on your needs, the advisor-client relationship, and the complexity of your situation. While your advisor may occasionally change, our internal process is designed so that anyone involved has full visibility into your current plan, past actions, and detailed history.
How do you charge fees?
Our fee structure is outlined in our ADV brochure. In general, we typically charge a flat fee for planning services that do not involve moving into an investment relationship or implementation plan. If you move forward with implementation, our pricing is fee-only and based on total assets under management, with the percentage declining as your wealth grows.
What can I expect if we work together?
We work with people from many backgrounds, but our services are best suited for individuals and families with at least $1 million in investable assets. Many of our clients have done a great job saving and want help managing the moving parts of their finances so they can focus more on enjoying life.
Where will my money be held? Do I still own my accounts?
We use Charles Schwab as custodian for client accounts. Your investments are held in accounts registered in your name, and you remain the owner of all assets. Our role is to manage and advise on your portfolio with your permission. We do not work for Schwab, and we do not receive commissions.
