Stephen Islander

Associate Wealth Manager

Stephen was born and raised in Half Moon Bay, California, and now calls Bay Park in San Diego home. He earned his degree in Physics at San Francisco State University, where his analytical mindset took shape alongside a growing interest in a career centered on people.

As an Associate Wealth Manager, Stephen supports PCM’s Senior Advisors and works directly with clients to help them move closer to their goals. His day-to-day is a mix of behind-the-scenes planning and client-facing partnership, all in service of helping people build a life they’re excited about.

Before joining PCM in September 2026, Stephen spent four years building clients’ financial confidence from the ground up, starting simply by showing friends and family how to begin their own investing journeys. That early experience shaped how he approaches every client relationship today: start where someone is, meet them with patience, and build understanding step by step.

What motivates Stephen most is watching a client realize that their goals aren’t as far away as they thought. He believes that with a proactive, creative plan, many of the things people assume are out of reach are actually within reach, as long as they have the right course and someone willing to help chart it. That belief connects to a philosophy he holds close: if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. For Stephen, planning is the foundation everything else is built on.

Outside the office, Stephen is usually chasing a swell, experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen, or catching up with friends over a long lunch. A fun fact: Stephen spent five years coaching water polo and helped a team bring home a gold medal at the Junior Olympics along the way. His competitive drive and coaching instincts show up in how he champions his clients’ goals too.
